HP30 Class Announces the 2021 Race Programme

10TH NOVEMBER, 2020

Despite COVID-19 the HP30 Class is in good shape and raring to go in 2020.

Not dwelling on 2020, but looking ahead to 2021 and the teams that will be racing, is the best approach for the Class, as it heads into it's sixth season.

The HP30 Class fleet is now well into double figures; with fourteen boats based in the Solent, alone. Currently, there are 5 FarEast28Rs, 4 Farr280s, and one each of the Farr30 (Evo), MC31, Lutra30, J90 and FarEast31. An impressive line-up of "race-ware".

There will be two main competition formats again, for next year: the “Championship Series” of six events over the summer and the “Solent Series” which spans the entire season and we are very pleased that class specific trophies will be awarded by a number of the host yacht clubs.

For those who are interested in joining the fleet, but worry about "young" development classes, please note, the rule is fixed and well curated. The Technical Committee is in place and changes to the rule can only be agreed two years ahead of time and currently there are no plans to change the rule, so stability reigns.

For teams looking to join in, the good news is that there are plenty of class compliant boats available and they can be brought up to speed quite quickly. A selection of boats is available on the HP30 Class brokerage section.

The general consensus is that the “heavy lifting” of starting this class has now been completed and with the support of some prestigious events and Yacht Clubs, the fleet is set to grow and deliver serious fun on the water, for many years to come.
